Tack Up Your Horse With Our Equipment
Your friend, the horse, cannot perform at its best without its tack. If you do not tack it up in the right manner, the consequences could be disastrous. Horses are expensive and you can't risk losing one just because you made the wrong decision.
What you can choose is the style of horse riding tack. Two major styles of equine tack are Western and English riding.
English Horse Tack
The English discipline of equine riding requires that the rider be in close contact with the horse which is conveyed in the bridle via the bit and the saddle. The bit found on English tack shops bridle has no shank. The reins connect directly to the bit in the mouth. You can use bits of various shapes and sizes depending on the type of riding you are doing. The reins are short in length to increase the contact you have through the bridle with the horse.
English horse tack saddles have a common theme with minor variations, again depending on the shops you are buying in. Supplies of English style saddles in these shops include dressage saddles, close contact saddles, and all purpose saddles. The saddle pad you choose in the tack shops is also important to ensure that the horse remains comfortable while you ride it. An ill-fitting saddle pad would lead to back soreness for the horse, which means that the animal would not welcome you on its back again.
Western Horse Tack
Western disciple of equine riding supplies requires that the rider has less contact with the horse via the bridle and more with the legs via the saddle. Western bits and saddles in the tack shops convey this approach. Western bits have shanks on them which are an extension of the bit away from the mouth, thus lessening the contact between the rider and the horse. Western reins available in these shops are longer as well, in comparison to the English ones for the same purpose.
The Western saddle is quite different from an English saddle. The seat is deeper with more built up in front and back, a horn in the front, more leather around your legs, and larger stirrups. The saddle pad is also thicker in padding with typically a fleece lining. The purpose of the Western style saddle is to evenly distribute the pressure on the horse's back.
